How many crates do you need?
How it works
Four steps, and you only do two of them.
Pick a kit and a date
Choose your crate count and a drop-off day at least two days out. Pay online in a couple of minutes.
We drop off
Clean crates and a hand truck arrive at your door between 8 AM and noon.
Pack and move
Lids snap shut and crates stack flat in any truck. You have 14 days to pack, move, and unpack.
We pick up
Leave the empty crates out by 11 AM on pickup day. We collect them from your new address.

A 2-bedroom move in cardboard runs about $150 to $250 in boxes and tape, plus the trip to buy them and the pile to break down after.

That means a blue crate and a yellow crate can differ slightly in size and shape, may not stack neatly on each other, and their lids may not swap. Stack like colors together for the steadiest load.

You wouldn't pack everything in extra-large boxes, so don't pack everything in big crates. Add smaller totes to any kit.

Questions
How many crates do I need?
A rough guide: 20 for a studio or 1-bedroom, 40 for a 2–3 bedroom home, 60 or more for 4+ bedrooms. Kitchens and bookshelves eat crates fastest. If you're between sizes, go bigger. You won't pay for crates you don't fill.
How big are the crates?
Kit crates hold 27 gallons, roughly 27 by 17 by 12 inches, about the size of a large moving box. For heavy or small things you can add 12-gallon totes in 5-packs and mini totes (4.8 × 3.3 × 2.4 in) in 10-packs. All of them have snap-on lids and stack in the truck.
How do the lid colors work?
Choose how many crates you want in each of six lid colors (red, blue, yellow, green, grey, and black) and which room each color is for. It's $1 per crate. We bring your kit already sorted, so the crate with the green lid always goes to the kitchen. Every crate in a given lid color matches the others, but different colors may come from different manufacturers. That means a blue crate and a yellow crate can differ slightly in size and shape, may not stack neatly on each other, and their lids may not swap.
How far ahead should I book?
At least two days before your drop-off date. From May through September and around the end of each month, book one to two weeks out to get the date you want.
Can you drop off at one address and pick up at another?
Yes. Most customers do exactly that. Enter both addresses when you book. Both need to be inside our service area.
What if I need the crates longer?
Add extra weeks when you book, or reach out any time before your pickup date. Extensions are charged per week at the rate for your kit size.
How do I label crates?
Use masking tape and a marker, or the label slots on each end. Please don't write on the crates directly.
What if a crate gets damaged?
Normal scuffs are fine. Crates that come back cracked, missing, or with a broken lid are billed per our rental terms, which you'll see before you pay.
